Strategy and Global Finance

The aim of this module is to ensure the learner can exercise techniques and decide on decisions that add value in terms of corporate finance based on sound theoretical concepts. In addition, it helps the learner to present and interpret financial information in a recognised format and to work independently to solve the problems arising within the specified time given. It also endures that the learning can be applied on the practical context. Students will be educated on how to identify and explain suitable techniques to manage global risk, and how to critically assess potential investment decisions available and the strategies applied in the global environment.

Strategic Financial Management

The aim of this module is to enhance learners ability to exercise the techniques and to make value added decisions in corporate strategy and finance based on sound theoretical concepts. Further, it enhances the contribution on the formulation of business strategy, creation of comprehensive business development plans, together bringing their specialist accounting and finance skills as well as the strategic management learning of the module. Students will be educated on how to understand and critically appraise the significance of strategic management and decision making in enhancing the performance of the organisation. They will also be expected to understand the key financial theories relevant to financial decision making and critical application of strategic implementation techniques including balanced scorecard and portfolio management tools.

Strategic Auditing

The aim of this module is to help students to understand the ability to choose and apply suitable investigative techniques on a variety of situations that include both simple and complex scenarios. The module provides a profound learning on the aims, objectives and methods of auditors and their contribution on the achievement of true and fair view on the published accounts. This module will educate the students on how to identify and critically assess on the current developments in auditing. They will also be taught on the rules of professional conduct and the importance of legal and professional requirements. The risks involved in auditing are also detailed within this module. Students will be brought up to speed on the current developments in auditing.

Financial Analyst

The purpose of this module is to develop the understanding of market equilibrium models, bond valuation and performance evaluation. At the end of this module, students should be encouraged to make enquiries as to the cause and effect of the impact of current developments in the world’s capital markets on the investment process and critically appraise current thinking on the theories and investments. This module will cover the different types of securities and their concepts, the regulations and procedures relating to trading securities, the principles of investment theory and the regulations prevailing in the financial services industry. Students will also be educated on the range of taxes, their characteristics and client portfolios.

Ethical Behaviour and Corporate Governance

The aim of this module is to reveal the sequential development and guideline of accounting and the impact of accounting and finance on the environment, the various stakeholders and on the society. Learners of this module will be equipped with the knowledge and skills essential to act as an advisor in relation to the governing authorities on the private, public and charitable sectors. This module will expand on professional institutes and explain the significance of corporate governance and ethical behaviour. It will also focus on the principle approaches of governance and identify CSR and governance issues.

Corporate Reporting

The aim of this module is to assist learners in the preparation and interpretation of financial statements for a group of companies and thereby to understand and evaluate the key aspects of accounting theory. On the completion of the module, learners will be able to communicate complex numerical and qualitative information effectively and solve problems in a selective and critical manner. This module also focuses on the regulatory framework and its impact on businesses. Students will be taught on appropriate accounting calculation and implementation, as well as how to interpret gathered accounting information.

Finance in the Global Context

The student is able to present, interpret and critically evaluate financial information. Corporate financial techniques to analyse corporate risk and performance from a global viewpoint will be addressed which provides students a wider scope. The assessment also covers the concept of globalisation, multinational organisations, their business environment and investment processes and recommends appropriate strategies in order to enhance the value of an organisation.

Auditing and Standards

The assessment mainly concentrates on all the auditing related concepts. The students will show critical awareness of current standards and issues in auditing and be able to choose and apply suitable investigative techniques in a variety of audit situations in the accounting environment. The history of financial regulation and audit and the audit risk involved and the procedures to minimize the risk are evaluated using the assessment.

Corporate Governance and reporting

The assessment looks into the regulatory framework and financial accountability in maintaining stakeholders of a business both internally and externally and the key accounting policies and practices within corporate accounting are also addressed. The students will be able to discuss and evaluate the impact of accounting systems on organisations and the society using cases together showing knowledge on the concept of corporate governance, practical application of principles and assessment of how good corporate governance could be achieved are examined.

Financial Prediction

The assessment provides understanding and knowledge in the investment environment and process, the concepts underlying investment decisions and the analysis and strategies involved in investment in financial assets. Theories and techniques used to analyse assets and the management of portfolio of assets are also addressed. The assessment also considers aspects such as target monitoring, meeting deadlines and the communication of numerate and qualitative information effectively.

Entry Requirements If you wish to enrol in this programme, please make sure you meet the following entry requirements:

The prerequisite knowledge and/or experience you would need to study this course.

  • An Honours degree, or an equivalent qualification.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ managerial work experience in Business Managerial roles and evidence of ability to study at postgraduate level.

AND

If you are not a native English speaker, we would require applicants to demonstrate a certified level of proficiency in IELTS of at least 6 or above, or equivalent.
