The course ‘Operations Management’ has been designed to help you understand the strategic role of systems and operations management in businesses. There will be an exploration of how systems and operations are key enablers for improving customer experiences and for managing processes. You will also develop knowledge of information systems infrastructure and how to apply these ideas to an organisation.

The course content is designed under 04 lessons which helps you understand the role of information systems in a business context, principles of operations management, key areas of performance management and understanding team players and teamwork.

You are not required to demonstrate previous experience or knowledge on information systems and the operational landscape of organizations or knowledge on how to build an operational plan,  to succeed in this course. As future operations managers it is important to work on novel and hypothetical scenarios and know, how to use the available tools and theories to analyse the organizations’ operations and the different systems. Such frames the overall aim of our free short e-course on Operations Management.

However, remember to build dialogue with your online class mates and share your ideas and understanding of each of the lessons and topics. And please also ensure that each week you complete the assigned tasks and activities to reap the full benefit of this course.

Finally, the summative assessment will consolidate your learning over the 04 weeks which requires you to attempt two tasks covering the key learning outcomes of this course and submit a report worth 2,000 words.
